MARCH MEETING: Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 6:30pm in Chambers Hall, Evanston
DATA SCIENCE NIGHTS are monthly hack nights on popular data science topics, organized by Northwestern University graduate students and scholars. Aspiring, beginning, and advanced data scientists are welcome!
SPEAKER: This month's speaker is Michael Lucas, Lead Data Scientist at Tempus, and a PhD graduate from the EECS department with a specialization in machine learning and natural language processing. He will be sharing some of the work done at Tempus, an analytics company in downtown Chicago that provides genetic sequencing for cancer patients. Tempus has a wide array of analytics teams working on various biological, statistical, and NLP questions that have direct impact on cancer genomics and patient outcomes across the United States. Tempus is hiring, and Michael and his colleagues who will also be attending are open to any questions about working at Tempus and how to apply.
Following the talk attendees can continue or propose new project and learning groups.
Agenda:
6:15 pm - Socializing and refreshments
6:30 pm - "Using Data Science to Fight Cancer" - Michael Lucas, Lead Data Scientist at Tempus and a PhD graduate from the EECS Dept.
7:00 pm - Project and Learning Groups of your choice.
