JUNE MEETING: Monday, June 25, 2018 at 6:30pm in Chambers Hall, Evanston
DATA SCIENCE NIGHTS are monthly hack nights on popular data science topics, organized by fellows and scholars from the Northwestern Data Science Initiative. Each night will feature one hour of structured programming followed by a hacking night with data science project or learning groups of your choice.
Aspiring, beginning, and advanced data scientists are welcome!
Tentative Agenda:
6.15 – 6.30 pm: Socializing and networking
6.30 – 6.40 pm: Welcome and announcements
6.40 – 7.05 pm: Caroline Groth, Dept of Preventive Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine "Bayesian Measurement Error and Bayesian Informative Missingness Methods"
7.05 – 7.10 pm: Coordination of Breakout sessions, including:
* Bring your own project: Co-working on own projects
* Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection: a modern alternative to t-SNE visualizations of high-dimensional data and classic dimenensionality reduction techniques? (learning group)
* Deep learning (learning group)
* Hate crime and income inequality (project group)
* Getting started with data science (tutorial by hosts)
* Your suggestions! (and more)
