Alejandro Alvarado Rojas

Alejandro Alvarado Rojas

Alejandro is a doctoral student in Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California. He aims to unpack the tensions and opportunities at the intersection of datafication and data justice, community building, and participatory technologies. His research is influenced by the fields of Critical Data Studies, Communication and Science and Technology Studies (STS) with an emphasis on collective action and publics. Alejandro has been a research assistant for the Annenberg Networks Network (ANN), the Annenberg Research Network on International Communication (ARNIC) and is currently a member of the research collective Media As Sociotechnical Systems (MASTS). He is also affiliated with the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI) as a concerned researcher/citizen and was a fellow at the Open Tech Fund.

Y. Jasmine Wu

Jasmine Wu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Media, Technology, and Society program at the School of Communication. She will start a postdoctoral researcher position at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania this summer. Her dissertation project focuses on identifying and understanding communication patterns and relational mechanisms in the hybrid workplace. She applies statistical and computational tools to understand team processes and organizational structure from a social network perspective. She won top student paper awards at International Communication Association and National Communication Association. Her publications appear in leading journals in management and network science. She earned her B.S. degree in Information Science and in Communication from Cornell University.

Ke M. Huang-Isherwood (J.D. University of Minnesota) is a Ph.D. candidate in Communication at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Her research interests include social capital, political participation, and immigration.

Travel and Parking

Travel100, a travel agent for Northwestern University, will book the flight for you. The grant supporting the conference will only reimburse travel on U.S. carriers. The travel agent will contact you to confirm the flight number, date, and time of your flight before booking the flight.

Lyft Vouchers

Lyft vouchers will be provided for domestic ground travel, international guests can submit their international ground receipts for reimbursement.

Guest Parking

Park at the North Garage, 2311 N. Campus Drive and follow the directions below to the Kellogg Global Hub
  1. After parking, proceed to the elevator nearest stairwell A or B (south side of the garage) and go to the first floor.
  2. Exit the garage and cross Campus Drive.
  3. Follow the sidewalk going left, (east) of the Searle Building.
  4. Continue south, following the signs to the Kellogg Global Hub on the east (left) side of the walkway.

Before leaving the Global Hub, make sure to ask the front desk staff for a validated parking ticket to exit the garage.
