Wednesdays@NICO Seminar, Noon, February 10 2010, Chambers Hall, Lower Level

Prof. Scott Branting, University of Chicago

Transportation simulations as a tool to analyze urban movement and activities have seen use in many disciplines. Some aspects of transportation, including human walking, have unfortunately been less developed than others. For the ancient world, forms of transportation like walking are precisely those that are of the utmost importance. This talk presents the results and verification program of the GIS-T (Geographic Information Systems – Transportation) and agent-based simulations along the street network of the Iron Age city at Kerkenes Dağ in central Turkey.
